Before you go
Your locator books the tours and confirms pricing and availability for you. Bring a government-issued photo ID; most communities ask for it before showing a unit.
List your locator's name and Fancy Apartments on the guest card when you check in. It's how your locator gets credit for helping you.
What to check in the unit
- Water pressure and how quickly the hot water arrives
- Cell signal in every room
- Closet and storage space
- Natural light at the time of day you're usually home
- Noise from neighbors, the street or amenities
- Washer and dryer setup
What to ask the leasing office
- Is this price tied to a specific unit, move-in date or lease length?
- Which fees are due at move-in, and which are monthly?
- Which utilities and services are billed separately?
- How does parking work, and does it cost extra?
- What is the pet policy, including pet rent and deposits?
- How are packages and maintenance requests handled?
After the tour
Take photos and video of every unit you see so you can compare them later.
Pricing and availability can change every 24 hours. If a place checks every box, applying the same day is often the best way to lock it in.
